According to census records, his father was born in Illinois, his mother, Ohio.

By 1881, Abraham, as a young man, migrated to Arkansas. April 11, 1881, the U.S. Marshall of the Western District of Arkansas issued a formal complaint over a dispute between Mr. Copple and a Mr. Dial regarding the ownership of 16 hogs taken from Indian Territory. The case was heard before Judge Issac C. Parker in 1882.

A.L. Copple, noted in various documents under the names of Abraham and Albert, became the husband of Mary Ethel Green, daughter of Emeline and T.A. Green. They married July 22, 1888 in Sebastian County, Arkansas. Two years later (August 30, 1900), Abraham was appointed postmaster for Cavanaugh, in Sebastian County.

The Copples had at least five children: Wesley, Minnie, Olie F., Nellie and Verna Copple.

Abraham passed in 1923. His wife died in 1933. They are buried at Steep Hill Cemetery.
