Ann Elizabeth Howell passed away in Dallas, Texas, on July 26, 2016, following a long illness. Ann was born on March 11, 1944, in Texarkana, Texas, while her father was serving in Europe in World War II.

Ann distinguished herself academically, graduating Valedictorian of her class at Texas Senior High School in 1962 and earning a degree in English with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1966. For several decades she taught English and Latin at Browne Junior High School and Kimball High School in the Dallas Independent School District. After retiring from DISD, she worked in the Human Services Administration at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. She was also active in the Dallas County Republican Party, volunteering for several campaigns, including those for Mayor Fred Meyer, Congressmen Tom Carter, and Governor Bill Clements, and working in Phil Gramm's Dallas office during his tenure as U.S. Senator.

She has been preceded in death by her parents, Edgar P. (Pat) Howell and Charline Cole Howell, and her brother Warren T. Howell.

She is survived by her brother John Howell and his wife Angela of Dallas, Texas; her brother Robert Howell of Dallas, Texas; her sister-in law Kathy Howell of Beaverton, Oregon; and nieces and nephews Jeffrey Howell, Michael Howell, Lindsey Howell Black, Sarah Howell, and Thomas Howell.
