Eldest of 12 children of Carl David (1822-1900) and Caroline Hammerling Fricke (1823-1882), she married Fredrich Hoffman 1864 in Prussia and followed him to USA about 1872 with two children.

He was a baker and farmer in the Anchor, IL area.
They had 16 children, 12 of whom survived to adulthood.
