Mass for Mrs. Marie Pedi, 83, past president of the women's auxilary of Villa Scalabrini retirement home in Northlake, and active in many other Italian-American organizations, will be said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, Addison St. and Lavergne Ave.

Mrs. Pedi, a Northwest Side resident, died Monday in Resurrection Hospital. She was an ardent supporter of the annual Columbus Day parade in the Loop. For 20 years, until she was 81, she rode on floats in the parade wearing authentic Italian costumes.

Mrs. Pedi also was a member of the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans and was a supporter of New Horizons, an organization for retarded children.

She was born in Palermo, Sicily, and came to the U.S. with her parents as a young girl. She was the widow of Philip Pedi, founder of a wholesale produce business, who died on Jun. 14.

Mrs. Pedi is survived by a son, Dr. Alfred; a daughter, Mary Jane Frystak; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services Thursday 9:30 a.m., Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles, to St. Bartholomew Church for 10:30 a.m. Mass. Entombment All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations to the Villa Scalabrini Home For The Aged, 480 N. Wolf Rd., Melrose Park. Visitation Wednesday 2 to 9 p.m.
