Seth Walsh
Birth: Feb. 12, 1997
Death: Sep. 27, 2010
Kern County
California, USA

Seventh-grade student at Jacobsen Middle School in Tehachapi, California. Son of Wendy Walsh. Grandson of Jim & Judy Walsh. Described by his grandmother as being, "a very loving boy, very kind. He had a beautiful smile. He liked fashion, his friends, talking on the phone. He was artistic and very bright." Described by a friend as being, "the best person ever," in a YouTube video dedicated to him while he was in a coma. Reportedly, he loved to sing and dance, swim, and most of all, laugh. His younger brother, Shawn Walsh, said Seth was the funniest person he knew and the best older brother he could have hoped for. School acquaintances Abigail Herrera, 13, and Vivian Najar, 14, described Seth as a funny guy who would talk about a variety of things. Najar said he always knew how to make her laugh, and said he was "fun, crazy, colorful." Herrera, who's known Seth since the fourth grade, remembered him as having a sunny disposition. "He was always smiling," she said. He had big plans. He and his best friend, Jamie Elaine Phillips, were going to travel to France when they were adults. Seth tragically hanged himself from a tree in his backyard after enduring prolonged bullying at his school and elsewhere, because he was gay. He was found unconscious, taken to the hospital, put on life-support, and held on for nine days before he died. Some of his organs were donated to those medically in-need. A child in Los Angeles was saved after receiving Seth's heart.
