Sports Broadcaster, Writer. He was the legendary voice of the Pacific Coast League's Seattle Indians and Seattle Rainiers baseball teams. He worked as an office boy for the "Seattle Post-Intelligencer," before joining the "Seattle Star" in 1918, where he worked as a sports writer, sports editor and managing editor. He began his announcing career in 1931 and remained the "Voice" of Seattle baseball for the next three decades. He became locally famous for his home run calls of "Back, back, back, back, back and it's over!" In 1960 he left the Rainier's organization following a salary dispute. Unable to reach a new contract agreement, he turned his attention to caring for his ailing mother. In 1974 he was inducted into the Washington State Sports Hall of Fame.
