Mrs. Brown was the daughter of Charles W. Hobbs. In her UDC records she states the her father was born in Georgia and her mother in South Carolina. Her father gave loyal aid in transporting supplies for the troops and her mother and grandmother in caring for the sick and wounded soldiers.

Her uncle was killed while serving the Confederacy in one of the South Carolina companies. Her husband's father and uncle also served the Confederacy as loyal soldiers for the four years of the war.

Dora Lee Hobbs Brown was President of Martha Reid Chapter 19 from 1917-1918 & 1927-1928. She was also President of the Florida Division, UDC from 1932-1934. For many years she was Chairman of the Old Soldiers Home.
