A Confederate Headstone dedication in honor of Captain Alfred Able Smith was held on 10-7-2001 at the family burial site in Northern Coffee County. The ceremony, with the unveiling of the monument (given by the VA), was impressive with the procession of the Color Guard (a group of Sons of Confederate Veterans from Brunswick, Ga). The ceremony marked the culmination of much work from surviving family members and volunteers. The old cemetery sat undisturbed since 1875, and was in near ruins.

The "Smith Family Cemetery" is recorded and reserved as a family burial ground, Lot 20 in Deed Book A, page 454, at the Coffee County Court House, Douglas, Georgia.

Spouse: Married on 11-26-1846 in Telfair County Georgia to Tobitha Wooten Smith (1832-1873). daughter of Bryant (1795-1867) and Jincy Lee Wooten (1807- ?), daughter of John Lee, RS. Bryant was a son of Joel Wooten RS (1754-1813) and Elizabeth Jordan Wooten (1760-1826?).

{* Alfred A Smith was born in Laurens County in 1823. He is the son of William C. Smith [Work in progress] . He came to Telfair County (now Coffee County) and was married to Tobitha Wooten on Nov 26, 1846.

Nieces reared by Narcissa Frier: Marcella, Annie, and Narcissa.
1. Narcissa (3-20-1845/9-3-1912) married Aaron G. Frier. both buried at Mt. pleasant Church.
2. Marcella (11-22-1847/1-10-1930) married Capt. Julius Warren Boyd (2-17-1834/5-19-1896). They are buried in the Oak Grove Methodist Church Cemetery on hwy 107 in Coffee County.
3. Annie married Dr Allison Googe. She and a son are buried at Oak Grove.
