From Holland St. John - "Emily was the daughter of David and Margaret "Peggy" (Duckworth) Jones and was born September 2, 1821 on her parent's farm in Black Township, Posey County, Indiana. Emily's parents were early settlers in southwestern Indiana Territory in the early 1800s. Her grandfather the Reverend Samuel Jones was the first minister to preach in Posey County. He also established the Primitive Bethel Baptist Church of which Emily was a member. She had nine brothers and sisters: John D., Lyddia, Elizabeth, Matilda, Robert Duckworth (my grandfather), Ezekiel, Henry L., Mary ("Polly"), and William W. On March 4, 1841 she married William W.Cash who was born in 23 March 1822 in Wabash Township, Gibson County, Indiana. By 1850 they had established a farm in Bethel Township, Posey County and his occupation was that of a "saw miller." Living at home were Louisa (born in Wisconsin, age 8), Joseph Armstrong, (born in Indiana, age 3) and Silas K. (also born in Indiana, 3 months old). The U S Census of 1860 indicates that the family was now living in Black Township. William (35), Emily (38), Louisa (18), Joseph (13), Ellen (8), Margaret (5) and John C. (4/12) were living on the family farm. It appears that their son Silas had died the previous decade. By 1870 William was listed as a farmer and both Emily and William were listed as 48 years of age. Children living at home at this time were Joseph (23 and farming), Sarah Ellen (17), Margaret (14), John Charles(10), and William Traynor(3). William was still farming in Black Township, Posey County and next to other members of the Jones clan. Emily's parents had a farm located nearby as well as her brother John D. Jones and two of his children: Silas P. and Harriet (Jones) Thomas. Emily died October 18, 1875 in Posey County. One source mentions 1872. It is not known in what cemetery Emily was laid to rest."
