Jarvis Joseph Wabasha 27, Jarvis Joseph Wabasha (Wahacanka Wasté) meaning "Good Shield," of the Lower Sioux Community, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, in Redwood Falls.
He was born June 17, 1976, in Redwood Falls to Joseph Bressette and Linda Wabasha.
He is survived by his parents, Joe Bressette and Linda Wabasha; four children, Mariah, Kaycee, Noblyn and Dylan; brothers, Shawn Sr., Nathan and Justice; and a sister, Winona.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at St. Cornelia's Episcopal Church at the Lower Sioux Community near Morton, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church hall and continues until the time of services on Thursday. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the church hall. Redwood Valley Funeral Home of Redwood Falls is handling the arrangements.
Jarvis Joseph Wabasha died and two others were wounded after a shooting at a house party in Redwood Falls, making it the first murder case in Redwood County since the shooting of a man outside a house party on the Lower Sioux Indian Community nearly one year earlier. On July 16, 2003, Three men are charged in connection with the shooting death.
