Col. George J. F. Carey U.S. Army Retired 69 died at Wadsworth Veterans Hospital. Col. Carey was a veteran of World Wars I and II. He was a native of New York City and had resided in Glendale for 18 years.

Col. Carey of the Corps of Engineers had worked on construction of projects in such locations as British West Indies and the Pan American Highway in South America. He worked in the Los Angeles office from 1937 to 1940 and then again for several years after World War II. He retired in 1951.

Although I never knew my grandfather his military service played a big part of my life. He was in the Engineer Branch of the U. S. Army. Most of my time in the Army was as a Combat Engineer.
