MRS. ANNA MILLER--NATIVE OF GERMANY
Mrs. Anna Miller, long time resident of Alton, died Saturday at the age of 59 years. She had been in ill health for the past two years, her illness becoming acute two weeks before her death.
Born in Oldenberg, Germany, in 1875, she came to Iowa with her parents at the age of seven years. She was married at Remsen in 1892 to Christian “Chris” Miller. To this union eleven children were born, three preceding the mother in death. Mr. Miller passed on nearly fifteen years ago.
Children surviving are Mrs. Theo. Steichen, Henry, Mrs. Herman Mulder, Lawrence, Mrs. Joe Stoos, Clarence, Julius and Bernadette, all of Alton. She is survived by twenty-two grandchildren, two brothers, namely, Karl Baune of Alton, Henry Baune of Wabasso, Minnesota, one sister, Mrs. Frank Juenemann of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The latter arrived to attend the funeral services held at St. Mary’s Church. Very Reverend M. A. Schemel officiating on Tuesday morning.
Other out of town relatives present were Frank Juenemann, Jr. of Selden, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Baune, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Baune, Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Baune and Henry Baune, Jr., all of Wabasso, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Schwartz of Lake Wilson, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Niebus and Mrs. Joe Baune of Remsen.
Mrs. Miller was a devoted Christian and loving mother. Both mother and father to her children since the early death of her husband, her courage and industry in maintaining her home and training her children to be honest and thrifty are worthy of the highest praise and reward.
The children have the sympathy of the community in the passing of their brave mother.
