John Delos Anderson died Dec 7, 1995 at the Star Valley Hospital in Afton. Funeral services were held at the Afton 1st Ward Chapel Dec 11, 1995 with Bishop Robert L. Walker conducting. Interment was in the Afton Cemetery.
John Delos Anderson, son of John N. and Ida Adell McCombs Anderson was born Oct 15,1905 in Grover. He married Maurine Michaelson April 2, 1931 in the Salt Lake Temple. To this couple three children were born.
He was a rancher in Star Valley all of his life raising beef cattle, milking a few cows and working the land. There was nothing he enjoyed more than riding his horse through the cattle on the ranch. He could tell the history of each cow and calf. Always working and doing things for his family, friends and others was a major part of his life.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the cornerstone of his life. He served in many teaching and leadership positions. He filled two missions; Eastern States Mission, 1927-1930, and Florida Mission with his wife, 1969-1970. Other notable callings were; bishop and counselor of the Grover Ward, 20 years as a member of the Star Valley Stake High Council and a ward home teacher.
He also served in the community as a director of the Star Valley Creamery Co., Cattleman's Association and member of the Afton Lions Club. He served 12 years as the Wyoming State board of Agriculture-six years as vice president. He knew and loved the people of Star Valley and the state of Wyoming.
He was an avid reader of good books. He enjoyed the musical abilities of his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a loving father and friend and a dedicated servant of the Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Maurine, three children, John Deloyd and Rowan Michael, Afton, and Joyce Gaye, Salt Lake City; nine grandchildren six great grandchildren and one sister, Pearl Hepworth, Rexburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Daisy and Edna, and four brothers, Clarence, Golden, Gilbert and Arthur.
