John R. Gallagher Jr., born July 31, 1948. He died suddenly at his home in his sleep in Tucson, Arizona on July 2, 2012. He is a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran who served in 1971, the 82nd Airborne Americal Division. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star for Bravery. In 1967, he entered the Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament. He was a semi-finalist, and received a Silver Glove. He represented Cage Recreation, White Plains, NY. He became a pro boxer in 1974 and had his pro debut in Madison Square Garden, representing Gleason's Gym in Manhattan. In 1975, he joined the Rocky Marciano Improvement of Boxing in Mt. Vernon, NY - Steven B. Acunto.
