Loren J. Dilsaver of Fort Collins passed away on October 20, 2011 in Loveland. Loren was born June 16, 1914 in Athol, Kan. He was raised on a farm near Athol and graduated from Athol High School. He went on to obtain his degree in Agricultural Engineering from Kansas State University. Loren married Willene Blackmore on August 9, 1942 in Louisiana, Mo.
After graduation he worked for International Harvester Company. During WWII he worked as a civilian employee for the Navy inspecting naval materials. After the war he managed a plant that produced copper fittings for submarines in Natchitoches, Texas.
In 1948, Loren and Willene moved to Fort Collins. After moving to the area, Loren worked as a partner in a International Harvester dealership and was a truck sales manager for Poudre Valley Motors. He was a founder of Dilsaver Motors, Fort Collins Ready Mix and Rocky Mountain Bank. Loren then went into real estate development, developing several subdivisions…Fairway Estates, Park South, Scenic Knolls, Colland Center and Derby Hill, all in the Fort Collins/Loveland area.
Loren was a member of the Harmony Presbyterian Church, the Elks, the oldest member of Fort Collins Rotary Club and a member of the Board of Directors for Loveland/Fort Collins Water District. He also served on various committees for the Boy Scouts of America.
Loren is survived by his wife of 69 years, Willene of Fort Collins; his son Jerry and his wife Sumi of Kaneohe, Hawaii; brothers, Virgil and wife Frances of Hamilton, Mont., Harold and wife Berle of San Mateo, Calif., and Millard of Greeley, Colo. He is preceded in death by his son Paul; sister and brother-in-law Esther and Erhardt Kruse; sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Joe Murphy and his sister-in-law Agatha.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Harmony Presbyterian Church, 400 N. Boardwalk Dr, Fort Collins.
