Herbert Whistler Dies At Home In Union City.
Herbert R. Whistler, a 63-year-old resident of the Union City community practically his entire lifetime, passed away at 6 p. m. today at his home, 917 West Hickory street, following a prolonged illness from heart trouble.
Mr. Whistler was born near Bartonia on June 15, 1883, son of William and Sarah Bennett-Whistler. He attended the old No. 9 school near Bartonia, and was a general laborer. His wife was the late Jessie Yoder who died in 1932.
Surviving are four sons, William E., Raymond, and Ralph, all of Union City, and Chester, of Pocahontas, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and three brothers, Buy, Pocahontas; Scott, of Farmland, and Earl, of South Salem.
The body has been removed to the Fraze funeral home in Union City where friends may call after 12 o'clock noon Sunday.
Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home Tuesday at 10 a. m. with Rev. D. G. Berkebile officiating. Interment will be made in Springhill cemetery, southeast of Union City.
