Funeral services were held at Clagg Funeral Chapel June 19 for Walter Earl Dawson, 66, who died June 16 at Sulphur. Roy Young, Willard Tedford and Karl Jones officiated. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with arrangements by Clagg Funeral Home.
Born August 9, 1914 at Beedeville, Ark., he was raised in Arkansas and lived in California for 25 years before coming to Sulphur in 1972 after his retirement from the public school system in California.
Survivors include his wife, Alta Sue, of the home; one son, Walter Darrel Dawson of Longbeach, Calif.; one daughter, Helen Louise Smith of Longbeach, Calif.; one brother, Malcolm Dawson, Bakersfield, Calif.; three sisters, Adell Lail of Newport, Ark., Gladys Weidendenner of Campbell, Mo., and Beulah of Garner of Sexton, Mo.
Pallbearers were Frank Beaver, Gale Frederick, Bill Williams, Perry O'Dell, Dave Roberson and Don Myers.
