She was a member of the DAR...National #242262 dated 4/14/1928, based on paternal ancestor, Richard McClaughry (1739-1819), her great-grandfather. He was a private in Captain George Gilmore's Company of the 16th Reg'mt of New York Troops during Revolutionary War.
She attended elementary school at Lone Oak School, Lincoln Co. Oklahoma and High School in Cushing, OK. She clerked at a dry goods store in Cushing for a number of years prior to her marriage.
Atha was President of the P.E.O.(Philanthropic Educational Organization) and Hypatia Clubs of Cushing and was an active worker in the women's organizations of the local church. She was voted an Honorary Member of the Board of Foreign Missions of the Presbyterian Church, USA.
