The Minden (La) Herald & The Webster News (Dec. 13, 1935)

GERMANTOWN--Our community was saddened to hear of the death of Mrs. Neily Chanchlor Sunday morning at 5:00 o'clock at the age of 83, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Langheld of the Harris community. Mrs. Chanchlor was stricken with a stroke of paralysis and lived only a few days. She was laid to rest Monday morning at the old Bethlehem cemetery, under the direction of the Fomby Funeral Home, with Bro. Bazer of that community officiating.

Those left to mourn her death are her daughters; Mrs. Maggie Langheld, Mrs. Pearl Brown, Mrs. Ollie Gruner, and one son, Jess Chanchlor, a large number of grandchildren and one great grandchild, that made the fifth generation.

Mrs. Chanchlor was a well known lady, having a host of friends, in both Claiborne and Webster parish. She was active in helping with the house work until she was stricken. Most people at that age cannot see or cannot work. She could do both. She was helping her daughter quilt a quilt at that time. We deeply sympathize with the bereaved family in their loss and especially to Mrs. Frank Krouse, her granddaughter and one grandson, Mr. C.R. Langheld of this community.
