After a long time of suffering with Alzheimer's Disease, cancer, and diabetes, she is now frolicking with angels in heaven, remembering all the names, words, dates and special moments that have been lost to her for the past few years.

Mary Wonedia Mason Warnick, age 84, died at her home in Alpine, Utah on May 8, 2011.

She spent her last months, surrounded by family, friends, and Hospice support and help. Mary had some interesting ways of expressing herself in different situations. She often announced her arrival in your home, opening the door with, "Yoohooo." She often woke us up with, "Rise and shine!" She also would say, "Good morning, Mr. Sun." When we went to bed she would say, "Good night, sweet dreams, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite." She would also say, while scolding someone, "for the umteenth time". She would also ask at the dinner table, "Who's number one? Everyone answered, "I am." and raised their hands. She has several nicknames: Mary Lou, Grandma, Grandma-Nedia, Granny-gran. She took her best naps during the Price is Right, Matlock, and Sacrament Meetings. She tended to get the giggles when watching AFV and when startled or surprised.

Born April 24, 1927 to Thomas and Calla Mason. She grew up in the Parker, Muncie area of Indiana, with her brothers John and Joe and her sisters Wilma and Myrtle.

She served a mission in the Northern States Mission, where she first met Merrill Eldredge Warnick. They were later married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 7, 1950. They had four children, Sandra, Merrill Mason, James Thomas, Andrea Lurena Bishop, and Verlinda Coochise Adams, a foster daughter. She currently has fifteen grandchildren/foster grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren/foster great-grandchildren.

She served in many different callings in the LDS Church during her lifetime. She served as a Sunday School teacher, a ward librarian, a genealogy teacher, a teacher in M.I.A. (Young Women) and spent many years serving in various Primary callings. She and her husband served a mission together in Nigeria and California.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed many different hobbies and interests; genealogy, collecting tea sets, fishing, painting, bowling, photography, camping, black powder events, jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles, games, and card games. She was highly competitive and always loved winning, whatever the game or event may have been. She loved visiting with family and friends.

As her illness progressed, she forgot many things, but she never forgot to express her gratitude for her blessings and she never lost her interest in visiting with friends and family. She is preceded in death by her husband, son, James, two brothers, and one sister.
