Condemned for the murder of three men on May 11, 1974 at Hilltop Grocery near Princeton in Collin County. The victims were store owner Preston Broyles, 73, and customers Gary Coker and Billy St. John, both 18. They were killed execution style with a .30 caliber machine gun stolen from a gun collector, Roy Perryman, in Waco, who was found stabbed to death. White and his accomplices, James Owen Livingston and Gary Dale Livingston, left the store with $6 from the cash register and $60. taken from the victims. White confessed to shooting all three men, but was convicted only for the murder of Broyles. At the time of his execution, White was the longest serving death row inmate in Texas.
