Henriette M. Audette, 82 of Crookston and formerly of rural Red Lake Falls died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 23, 2002 at Riverview Nursing Home in Crookston with her family at her bedside.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 2 pm in The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston with the Rev. David Super, presiding. Visitation will be at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston on Tuesday from 5-7 pm, with a 7 pm prayer service, and also at the church for an hour before the funeral. Interment will be in the St. Dorothy's Cemetery at Dorothy.
Henriette was born on the family farm near Gentilly on March 16, 1920, the daughter of Adrian and Josephine (Vaudrin) Amiot. She grew up there, was baptized and confirmed at St.. Peter's Catholic Church at Gentilly, and attended country school. As a young woman Henriette moved to Crookston and was employed at the St. Vincent Nursing Home for a few years. On June 16, 1941 she was united in marriage to Leonard Audette at St.. Peter's Catholic Church. Henriette and Leonard farmed on the Audette family farm, near Huot and Red Lake Falls, in Louisville Township of Red Lake County. Henriette was a devoted wife and mother, and whatever needed doing on the farm found her right at Leonard's side. He passed away in February of 1973.
Henriette continued to live on the farm until moving to the Summit Apartments at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston in 1996. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parish in Crookston, and a formerly very active member of St.. Dorothy's Catholic Church and the St. Dorothy's Ladies Guild. She also belonged to the Golden Link Senior Citizens Group in Crookston, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. In the past years she had enjoyed spending time in the vegetable garden and tending to her many house plants. She was a wonderful cook and the pies she baked came to be known as her specialty. Henriette will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her family and many friends.
Loving family members include her twin daughters and sons-in-laws, Pauline and Hery "Butch Steer of Roseau, and Paulann and Joseph Kucera of Saginaw, a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Becky Audette of Fargo, seven grandchildren, Patrick Steer, Penelope VanDyke and Her husband Jeremy, Andrew Kucera and his fiance Heather Stanfiel, Jeffery Kucera and Rachel, Brandon and Daniel Audette, two great grandchildren, Josephine VanDyke and Kyle Kucera, a brother and sister-in-law Patrick and Joan Amiot of Crookston, two step-brothers and step-sister-in-law, Francis and Madeline St. Michel of Crookston, and Ralph and Joann St. Michel of Walla Walla, Wash.,a step-sister-in-law and step-brother-in-law, Dorothy and Joe Juhl of Pipestone, four sisters-in-law, Adele Amiot of Crookston, Annette Audette of Red Lake Falls, Angeline Amiot of Brainerd, Leah Audette of Cambridge, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Besides her husband, Leonard, Henriette was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Agnes three brothers, Louis, Victor, and Thomas Amiot and a stepsister Lucille St. Michel.
