Funeral services in celebration of Betty's life will be Friday, July 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Matthews Presbyterian Church in Matthews with Reverend Bill Pederson presiding. The family will receive guests in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. Burial will be private at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews.
Betty was an active member of Matthews Presbyterian Church where she was a proud member of the Women's Circle #1, where during her membership she was named Presbyterian Woman of the Year. She was a loving and caring lady who "was the village that raised the children of their community." Betty retired after working 25 years for the Matthews Post Office.
Survivors include her two daughters Suzanne Burton of Matthews and Brenda Burton of New York; son William W. Burton, Jr. and wife Janice, of Charlotte; John Eric Burton and wife Pam, of Atlanta, GA; Mark McDaniel Burton, of Michigan; grandchildren, Elizabeth of Greensboro, John, Taylor and Whitney Burton, all of Charlotte; adopted grandchildren, Katie and Dillon Parker of Charlotte, sister Louise and brother Benton and an extended loving family. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband Wes, brother Douglas and sister Dorothy.
