Isaac "Boonie" Berkley II, 68, formerly of Charlottesville, died on Sunday, May 29, 2011, in Jacksonville, Florida, after a long battle with cancer, with his family at his side.
Isaac was born on January 25, 1943, in Charlottesville, the son of the late Isaac Berkley Sr. and Ida C. Jackson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the late Emma Berkley.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country in the Vietnam War from 1960 until 1961. He was a devoted and loving husband, father; grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. An avid lover of wildlife, a smile that would light up a room.
He is survived by his loving wife, Corliss Berkley; daughters, Karen Foster of Miami, Florida, Brenda Berkley of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Suzanne Johnson of Gordonsville, Virginia, Luv Berkley of Charlottesville, Virginia, Sheena Berkley of Jacksonville, Florida; sons, Isaac Berkley III of Burkeville, Virginia, Anthony Massie of Charlottesville, Virginia; 16 grandchildren, a devoted sister, Mary Farrell of Jacksonville, Florida; lifetime friends, Josie, Daisy and Elaine; and a host of friends and family members.
A memorial service was held Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Charlottesville. Virginia. Burial was private.
