Floyd Clifford Zuendel, fifty-one, a lifelong and one of the best known residents of the German Hill section, died at his home at Starr, about 4 o'clock Tuesday morning, March 27, 1945, following an illness of 18 months.

He was a son of John M. and Katherine Ledebur Zuendel, born at Starr, August 26, 1893, where he was reared to manhood and where he had always made his home.

He was a descendant of the Zuendel family who were pioneers in clearing up the farming land on German Hill. Mr. Zuendel had followed farming all of his lifetime, was one of the best citizens of the community, and bore the respect and esteem of all who knew him. He was well known in this vicinity and had served as Kingsley Township assessor and tax collector for the last 19 years. Most of his life was spent in farming, but immediately preceding his illness he was in the employ of the Pennsylvania Department of Highways.

In 1923, at Jamestown, NY, he was united in marriage with Ruth Marie Dickrager, who survives him with the following children: Margaret, student at the Clarion State Teachers’ College, Jeane, Carl, Virginia, Beatrice Mae and Mary Lee, all at home. Also, surviving are his mother and the following brothers and sisters: Harl Zuendel, Lester Zuendel, Mrs. Curtis Dickrager, Mrs. Robert Leonard, all of Starr; and Glenn Zuendel of Tionesta.

The body was removed to the Haslet Funeral Home in Tionesta and funeral services in his memory were held at 2 pm Friday, in the Starr Evangelical Church, with Rev. Fred Morris, pastor of the Tionesta Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment was made in the Starr cemetery. Pallbearers were: Chester and Walter Zuendel, Edward Burhen, James Wick, Byron McGinnis and Nelson Heath.

Among those who attended from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. George Ledebur and daughters Geraldine and Shirley, of Sheffield; Howard Zuendel, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Ledebur and son and Mrs. Gilbert Jentler, of Bradford; Clifford Bean of Oil City; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Blum of Marienville; and A/S Robert Leonard of Sampson, NY.
