Marvin owned and operated a service station and tire repair business in Palestine, TX. He died at his home on Posey Bridge Road in Anderson Co, TX. He was survived by one son, James William (Billie) Gibson; one daughter, Mrs. G. I. (Thelma) Burkhart of Houston; a half-sister, Mrs. Elsie Wacha of Palestine; three grandchildren, Gary Clyde Gibson, Karen Frizzell and Darrell Burkhart. His obituary appeared in the Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Tuesday, 6 June 1978.
