Charles W. Adkins
Age 88, of New Castle, DE, formerly of Elmhurst, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the Milford Delaware Hospice Center.
Charles was the son of the late, Howard and Mary Adkins. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII, serving on the USS Somers, participating in the landings on DDAY. Charles retired as a pipefitter from the DuPont Experimental Station after many years of service. His greatest joys were spending time with his family and vacationing at Daytona Beach, FL.
He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes Adkins in 2007. Charles is survived by, his children, Eileen M. Fallers and her husband Jim of New Castle, DE and Warren C. "Buzz" Adkins and his wife Kathleen of Oceanview, DE; his grandchildren, Daniel Adkins, Jennifer Adkins, Laurie Leone, Megan Hartsel, Brian Fallers, Jim Fallers and 12 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Road Pike Creek on Thursday April 16, at 11 am, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilm., DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Charles may be sent to Milford Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way Milford, DE 19963.
