LAURETTA SCRANTON, 77, died at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home, Montpelier, Ohio. She was the daughter of Benjamin H. and Lauretta (Kelly) Robinson. Lauretta was a 1943 graduate of Kenwood High School, Baltimore County, Md.

She was united in marriage to Lauren Scranton, Oct. 29, 1944 in Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church, Rosedale, Baltimore Co., MD. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hicksville. She was one of the founders of the Hicksville Senior Center and one of the earliest volunteers for the Hospice of Defiance County. She enjoyed flower and herb gardening and was active in various flower clubs in the area. She was employed for over 10 years at Lester's Diner, in Bryan, Ohio, as a baker and cook.

Surviving are four sons, Herbert, Larry, Richard and Steve Scranton, eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth Neumister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lauren, and one brother, John Robinson.

Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, with visitation one hour prior, at Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville; Pastor Jerry Lewis officiating. The family is receiving visitors from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial at Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville. Memorials may be made to Hospice-The Caring Way of Defiance, Alzheimer's Association of Northwest Ohio, or the donor's choice.
