Oslo kommune

Death: May 13, 1962

Anette was the eldest daughter of Anders Andersen and his wife Andrine Martinsdatter of the nedre Ruteig farm in the Vestfold province of Norway. The farm is not too far from the city of Tønsberg. Anette immigrated to the United States on August 2, 1905, landing at Ellis Island from the Cunard Steamship "Caronia". The manifest of the ship stated that she was from Våle (a district of Vestfold Province) where the Ruteig farm was located. She came to the States to make money, first working for friends Olga and Svend Holland near Lewistown and later cooking on the Mons Teigen Ranch. It was here that she met Tom Iverson. They were married in Lewistown on November 2, 1906. They first lived at Ft. Maginnis and eventually moved to a homestead 30 miles north of Winnett at a community known as Dovetail. Here they raised sheep for 35 years until Tom's death in 1947 when their son Isaac took over the place. Tom and Anette had three children: Andrew Ivar (1907), Isaac George (1910), and Guri Ann (1914). Both Tom and Anette were courageous to strike out into a new land on their own. They found one another and flourished in the early days of Montana.

Thank you, Grandma, for living in my back yard - or letting me live in your back yard! I could always count on you when I ran away from home. I miss you and love you.

My husband's grandmother. So glad you were brave enough to come to a strange country where you found a new life filled with love and family.
