Willie Mac Barnett, 77, a lifelong resident of Crossett, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001. Born September 27, 1923, to Elzie and Ollie Mae Doss Barnett, he was a self-employed building contractor, a Baptist, and a long-time member of the Crossett Riding Club and the Old Carter Deer Camp. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Barnett; a daughter, Betty Bolin; two brothers, Leroy and Norris Barnett; and two sisters, Ione Barnett and Hazel Schictel.

Survivors include his wife, Martiel Barnett; a son, Jerry Mac Barnett and wife Margaret; son-in-law, Johnnie Bolin; a daughter, Kathy Baldwin and husband Tom; his mother-in-law, Zelma Young, all of Crossett; three sisters, Willene Stinson of Crossett, Martha Ingram of Rayville, LA, and Violet Ross of Whitehall; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Friday, April 6, in the First Freewill Baptist Church with Revs. Roy Craig and John Reed officiating. Pallbearers were Charles Grassi, Roger Naff, Joe Harper, Don Henson, Ben T. Carter and Jimmy Mills. Burial followed services at the Carter Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
