Death of Abner Chaffee

We regret sincerely to hear of the death of Mr. Abner Chaffee, which occurred at his residence in Palermo today, from a cancer in the jaw, from which he had suffered for several years.

Mr. Chaffee removed to Palermo nearly fifty years ago, since which time he has been one of the best known and most respected citizens of this town, and of Oswego County. For many years he supervised Palermo in the Oswego County Board of Supervisors, and was during his long term of service always regarded as one of the most intelligent and faithful members of the board.

In every relation of life Mr. Chaffee was a good citizen and a man of unquestioned integrity, and he has died deeply regretted by all who have ever had the pleasure of his acquaintance.

He leaves a wife and two sons, Dr. David J. Chaffee of Rochester and Willis Chaffee, this city.
