Murray Willard Blurton Sr., of Dyersburg, died Saturday, July 14, 2001 in Tyler, Texas. He was a retired automobile dealer, a U.S. Navy Seabee, a World War II veteran, a member of First United Methodist Church, past president of Methodist Men's Club, past president of Dyersburg Kiwanis Club, a former member of Dyersburg Masonic Lodge, a member of Wednesday Morning "Tell Others" Prayer Breakfast and a member of 1938 undefeated/untied football team at the University of Memphis.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Dr. H.E. Russell and Dr. Cecil Kirk officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Lowe Blurton of Dyersburg; a daughter, Patricia Goodwin of Hilly Lake Ranch, Texas; a son, Murray W. Blurton Jr. of Dyersburg; four grandchildren, Tom Goodwin and Sheryl Goodwin of Dallas, Texas, Suzi May of Brownsville and Robert McCay of Memphis; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Tucker, Phil Lowe Jr., Steve May, John Thomas Pressler, Tommy Moss and Ricky Leow. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Kerr, David Hurt, members of men's prayer breakfast of FUMC and members of Outpost Sunday School class.
