Mrs. Yeddie Griffin Stewart, 86, died November 20, 1974 at the NMMC in Tupelo. She was a lifelong resident of Shannon. She was a native of Lee County and was a member of the United Methodist Church. She married Alex Stewart in 1912 and he died in November, 1972. Services were held from the Funeral Chapel of W.E. Pegues with burial in the Shannon Cemetery.

Survivors included three daughters, Mrs. Paul Armstrong of Okolona, Mrs. Marvin Murphy of Shannon and Mrs. Romie Tate of Kenton, Tenn.; one son, James Stewart of Verona; two sisters, Mrs. Earl McFarling of Amory and Mrs. Clytee Shumpert of Marianna, Ark.; one brother, Purd Griffin of the Evergreen Community; seven grandchildren; an aunt, O. L. Schumpert of Fulton.
