From Lynn Diane's website,"There are 250 known lines of descent from Charlemagne to Edward Neville (d. 9 Jan 1540, son of George, 4th Lord Bergavenny ), supposed ancestor (no DNA tests) of my great great grandmother Mary Elizabeth Sherwood (b. 19 March 1852 Indiana, m. 12 Feb 1876 Marion County, d. 5 Jan 1931 Osceola, Iowa, buried Maple Hill Cemetery, Clarke County, Iowa). Her husband was William S. Williams (b. 8 Dec 1849, d. 31 Aug 1923, buried Maple Hill Cemetery, Clarke County, Iowa). Mary Elizabeth had auburn hair and blue eyes and was nine years old at the start of the American Civil War (1861-1865). She had relatives fighting on both sides of the Civil War and a great grandfather Daniel Sherwood III (b. 20 May 1749 Talbot County, Maryland) who married on 1 Jan 1768 at All-Hallowes, South River Parrish, Anne Arundel County, Maryland to Frances Linthicum (b. 30 Nov 1749, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, d. 4 May 1806 Guilford County, North Carolina, buried in Pleasant Garden Methodist Cemetery, Guilford County, North Carolina). Daniel Sherwood III died 18 March 1838 in Guilford County, North Carolina and served in the Maryland Militia of Talbot County under Colonel Jeremiah Banning's Regiment in 1778 during the American Revolutionary War. He also served as a member of the House of Burgesses, as High Sheriff, and was a tobacco planter in Maryland and North Carolina. His great great grandfather Francis Sherwood was born in England in 1608, immigrated to Maryland and signed the Oath of Fidelity 2 Jan 1646 in Annapolis, Maryland. This photo is a tintype when Mary Elizabeth Sherwood was about five years old." (Genealogy via Britain & France)
