"BILOXI LOSES BELOVED WOMAN"
"In the death of Mrs. Gladys Wheelock, wife of J. C. Brent, which occurred last night at 11:40 o'clock following a serious illness of short duration, Biloxi lost one of its most beloved women, who was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. Her death has not only caused the deepest sorrow in the home wherein she, her husband and family have lived happily at 400 E. Water street. Biloxians were shocked by the occurrence when informed this morning. There were born to Mr. and Mrs. Brent last night two sons, one of which died with its mother, and the other is at the Biloxi City Hospital and doing nicely. In departing this life, Mrs. Brent left besides her husband, a charming little girl and two sisters and two brothers. Deceased was a native of McComb, Miss., where she was born thirty-three years ago. She came to Biloxi eight years ago, where she has resided ever since. Her sisters are Mrs. C. A. Gilmore of New Orleans, who is here and Miss Louise Wheelock, of New York City, who will arrive Monday in time to attend the funeral. Her brothers are Dr. W. O. Wheelock, of Chicago, and M. A. Wheelock, of Vicksburg, Miss. Besides these she leaves an aunt, Miss Margaret Hanrahan, of New Orleans, who is also here. Mrs. Brent was a member of the First Baptist church, under whose auspices funeral services will be conducted at the home, by Rev. P. G. Posey. The funeral arrangements have not been completed but it will be held Monday morning. Interment will be made in the Biloxi cemetery. Friends were numerous in calling at the Brent home this morning to offer their sympathy and assistance, if needed, during today and the surviving relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in the loss of their relative and beloved woman."
