Clayborne Willard Faulk Sr.

EBENEZER - Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2003 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church for Clayborne Willard Faulk Sr., 96, who died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003 at Trinity Mother Frances Health Hospital in Tyler, Texas.

The Rev. Truman Stagg, pastor of Wesley Methodist Church in Crowley, officiated for the service. Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Rev. Faulk was born in Ebenezer on June 18, 1907 to Renald Hilliard and Zora Shepherd Faulk. Ebenezer United Methodist Church is the same church where he was raised and was licensed to preach.

Rev. Faulk married Dorothy Bell Wriborg of Rayne on June 20, 1932 and were married for 71 years. He and his wife attended Marvin United Methodist Church in Tyler.

The Rev. Faulk took his first pastorate with the Methodist Church in 1931. He was ordained a deacon in 1935 nd elder in 1937. He served the Texas Conference for 40 years.

After retiring in 1972, he kept active and severed several churches as an Interim Pastor and Pastor of Visitation. Rev. Faulk loved attending Annual Conference which he did 70 consecutive years.

In 1940 he became an avid pen and pencil collector, and having so much interest in this he helped organize the American Pencil Collectors Society in 1955. He also loved gardening as well as his collection; but above all, he loved his family, the Lord and the Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy B. Wriborg Faulk of Tyler; one son, Clayborne Willard Faulk Jr. of Tyler; two daughters, Norma Faulk Ott and her husband Quentin of Hide-A-Way Bay, Texas and Geraldine Edwards of Tyler; seven grandchildren' 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Ward Faulk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rev. Faulk was preceded in death by his parents, Renald and Zora Shepherd Faulk; three sisters, Gladys Ruey Hilliard, Martha Lee Stutes and Josie Ora Hoffpauir; and five brothers, Roy Bruce Faulk, Carroth Nolan Faulk, Freddie Burton Faulk, William Ward Faulk and Rubin H. Faulk.

Pallbearers were his grandsons and great-grandsons.
