Eugene will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.


Eugene was born in Jennings, La to the late Nelson & Rose Marcantel Fontenot on September 25, 1929. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a superintendent of D&M Construction Company in West Lake for 20 years. Eugene was also an auxiliary police officer for the Jennings Police Department year ago. He enjoyed shrimping, fishing, and crabbing. He loved his family and was a friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Leaving behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Norma Roy Fontenot of Roanoke; his beloved children, Roger Fontenot of Jennings, Carter Credeur and his wife Becky of Sweet Lake, Nelson Fontenot and his wife Peggy of Roanoke, Randy Fontenot of Lafayette, Mona Fontenot and her husband Richard of Roanoke, Carol Jean Ward and her husband Orvelle of North Carolina, and Sondra Fontenot of Texas; four brothers, Martin and Murray Fontenot both of Bundicks Lake, Shelby Roy and Robert Fontenot both of Iowa; one sister, Mildred LaFleur of Iowa; and his 16 beautiful grandchildren & 27 great grandchildren.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers and two sisters.

Carrying Eugene to his final resting place will be Rick Fontenot, Shane Fontenot, Eugene Roy, Trey Cox, Bounty Fontenot, and Corey Kratzer. Honorary pallbearers will be Nelson & Roger Fontenot.
