Francis Marion, eldest child of John and Martha Elliott, was born October 15, 1879 in Mitchell county, near Beloit, Kansas. When he was three years old his parents moved to Phillips county and filed on a homestead in the Bow Creek community southwest of marvin , now known as Glade.
He atended the public school at the Tanyard district no. 64 and Sunday school and church at Valley on Bow Creek.
On May 11, 1901, he was united in marriage with Myrtle May Cottrill. They established their home inb the little rock house on the Rooks county line, ine mile east of the old homestead, later moving to the farm where he was living at the time of his demise. Two children came to bless their home, Bertha and Orvel. They also had the privilege of taking into their hearts and home a ten day old baby girl, Wilma Cottrill who had lost her mother in death.
Frank and Mrty's home was one of genuine hospitality where relatives and friends felt the warmth of welcome that was ever awaiting them. Mrs. Elliott's untimely death came as a great shock to her loved ones. She passed away Oct 8, 1933.
He was married to Mrs. Olie Crawmer of Speed, Kansas, on April 21, 1942 who has been his faithful companion for 13 years. They made their home on his farm south of Glade except for two years when they lived in Phillipsburg caring for his mother.
Frank was a kind and loving father and grandfather, a devoted husband, and a good neighbor having spent practically his entire life in this commnity he was widely known and respected by everyone.
Mr. Elliott had been in failing health for sometime and he became worse Sunday evening. He was taken to the Phillips County hostpital MOnday morning where he died at 9 a.m., Oct. 10, 1955.
He was one of a family of 11 children. Two sisters, Lizzie and Minnie, died in early childhood and his father and mother also preceded him in death. His father Oct. 15, 1942, and his mother Sept 30, 1950, a grand daughter Bernetta McCue Dec 9, 1934 and a grandson Lyle McCue, Nov 13, 1954.
Those left to cheris his memory are his wife, Olie Elliott' his daugher and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Rolla McCue, Glade; his son and wife Mr and Mrs. Orvel Eliott, Erie, Colo... and host of realtives and friends.
Funeral services were held in the Miles Chapet at Phillipsburg Thursday, Oct 13th at 2 pm with REv F.M. Mcconald pastor of the Christian church at Kensington officiating... internment was made in the Fairveiw cemetery.
