Mrs. Amanda R. Allen, widow of the late Joel J. Allen, died Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Davis. Mrs. Allen was 88 years, eight months and 22 days of age.
She is survived by two daughters and one son, all residents of this city. The daughters are Mrs. J. W. Davis and Mrs. W. H. Stahl; the son, W. G. Allen. She was the mother of the late J. M. Allen, a former newspaper man of Glouster and Athens and at one time representative from Athens county.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of Christ Sunday afternoon at 1:30, conducted by a former pastor, John B. Dickson, of Hickson, Ohio. Interment will be made in the city cemetery.
