Son of William G. and Mary (Bugbee) Havens. Casualty of Civil War. Served in 2nd MI Infantry, Co. G. (Gravestone says 7th Infantry). John enlisted with his friend Henry E. Hatt. John was taken prisoner and later died. Henry returned home at the end of the war and later married John's cousin, Rachel Arnold. John's sister, Sarah Havens, was married to Edward's cousin, Milo Hatt.
