Born in Concord, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Stewart and Ruth (Rice) Childs. Cynthia spent most of her childhood growing up in Sunderland, Mass., before moving to Connecticut and residing in East Hartford for many years, and eventually making her home in South Windsor since 1971. Earlier in her career she was employed with Pratt & Whitney in East Windsor for many years, then went to work for Aetna Insurance Co. in Hartford for 30 years up until her retirement. Cynthia always loved to sing and was often found singing in various choirs in local churches in the South Windsor area. She will be deeply missed by her loving family.
She leaves her three children, Scott Ladd, Cheryl Ladd, and Alison Ladd, all of South Windsor; her sister-in-law, M. Terrie Kyc of South Windsor; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 31, at 11 a.m. at the Wapping Community Church, 1290 Ellington Road, South Windsor, with the Rev. Mark Abernethy officiating. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, South Windsor.
Friends and relatives are invited to call Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor.
