Maddin Forbes was the fourth of seven children born to Dr. Eliphas Cowan Forbes (1867-1940) and Cora Bell Pitt Forbes (1880-1965) Lincoln/Giles County area of Tennessee.
On November 24, 1937, He married Thelma Jane Hagood (1910-1996) of Lawrence County, Alabama. They had one daughter, Linda Nell Forbes, born December 1, 1946. The family lived in Town Creek, Alabama, for many years and were members of Sanderson Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Forbes was a retired blacksmith with the Tennessee Valley Authority. At the time of his death, he had moved to Centre, Alabama to be near his daughter and her family.
Pallbearers were Luther Masterson, Thomas Collier, Hollis Large, Joseph Agee, Avis Saint, and Ray Campbell.
