Scotty Joe Weaver, 18, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, as a result of a criminal attack, according to official reports.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Varner Weaver of Bay Minette; and three brothers, Lum Weaver Jr., Cecil Lavon Weaver and David Weaver, also of Bay Minette.
Visitation will be held tonight from 5 to 8 at Crossroads Church of God near Bay Minette. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial to follow in McGill Cemetery in Perdido.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Scotty Weaver Benefit Account at Compass Bank. The fund will be used to help pay funeral expenses, a family spokesman said, and contributions may be made at any Compass branch.
Arrangements are by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes and Crematory in Daphne.

Today, I read different articles concerning your story .. so sorry for your death and the pain suffered by your family.. Ignorance and intolerance towards the LGBT community continues even to this day, but there is now more progress and hope .. RIP
