John David Gaddis was known to everyone as J.D.. He was born in Georgia, but raised in Texas. He got a guitar for his 10th birthday, which he liked but didn't really try it for about a year. Then once he picked it up, he never put it down. If he wasn't eating or doing homework or something else that he just had to do, he was playing the guitar. He taught himself to play, and once he heard a song, it didn't take much time and he had the tune figured out.
J.D. was killed in a single vehicle accident where all 4 occupants were ejected from the truck and all 4 died. They ranged in age from J.D., 16, the driver, 20, front passenger, 21, and the other rear passenger J.D. thought of as his step brother, Clayton Dean Oliver, age 17.
After the wreck they had to use dental records to identify J.D. because of the damage. Angela, his Mom, was advised to only view his hand, which she did. I always loved his big beautiful hands!
Everyone we talked to after J.D.'s death considered him to be their best friend. We were told by everybody "he never lied to me, he didn't try to stab me in the back, he was my best friend". He went to school in Centerville for one and a half school years and touched many people, we never realized.
He moved to Bandera to be with his Mama the summer of 2008 and started school there. He went to school there for 10 weeks and affected people the same way in those 10 short weeks. He was loved by everyone and we never knew it. I think because of my age, and growing up with "men don't cry", one thing that amazed me was the fact that the boys who knew him, had no problem showing their tears, and telling everyone how much they love him and missed him.
He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized so we know he is with our Lord now and we will see him again one day. We are sad and miss him so much, but it makes us happy to know he is in utter paradise. He was such a loving person and affected many lives we never knew about.
We had a memorial service for the Celebration of his Life at the Cowboy Church of Leon County, led by Pastor Tuffy Loftin, in Centerville, Texas for his family and friends he went to school with here. Then the next week end we had another funeral service for him at Western Heritage Cowboy Church in Pipe Creek, Texas for family and friends he went to school with in Bandera, Texas.
The school band, that he was a member of, played at the service in Pipe Creek.
J.D. is survived by his Mom, Angela Wagley of Centerville, Tx., his Dad, James David Gaddis of Georgia, Maternal Grandparents Dave and Cathy Wagley of Centerville, Tx. and Paternal Grandma Gale Gaddis of Georgia. His Paternal Grandpa, also named John David Gaddis, but known as Johnny, J.D.'s Pappy, passed away 3/22/2008 and J.D. was very upset when he lost his Pappy.
Today is 10/18/2009 and we just found out that J.D.'s Dad,
James David Gaddis, who lived in Georgia, has died this morning. J.D. and his Dad are together once again.
The following are J.D.'s Great Grandparents who never knew him on earth, but I know they are together now, Praise God!
He has 3 set of great grandparents, because there is my husbands Aunt & Uncle who raised him, my parents, and my husband's biological parents.
