Muriel was one of four children born to Howard and Elizabeth Smith, of Dalton, Massachusetts. She married Orlin Smith, and settled in Griffith, Indiana to raise their two sons and two daughters. Muriel loved to play games, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a very gentle soul. She was a devout Christian, and very active in her church. Muriel was survived by her four children, and numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
