James served as a Staff Sergeant & Tail Gunner on B-24D #42-40886, 64th Bomber Squadron, 43rd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.
He resided in Massachusetts prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army on September 3, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a cranemen, derrickmen, hoistmen, and shovelmen and also as Single, without dependents.
James was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-24 crashed near Mount Eiyawaiy and Engati in Morobe Province during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
Service # 11088506
James' remains were recovered and identified in 2009. He is now interred in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. " Click Here " for that record!
