Birth: Jan. 15, 1852
Death: Dec. 13, 1929

All that was mortal of Mrs. R. A. Davis passed away this past week--She was the wife of W. Y. Davis--Shew was known to her relatives and a great host of friends by the endearing name --Aunt Puss. her passing was quite sudden, apparently she was strong and in good health, but was taken very suddenly, and in spite of the very best medical skill, Dr. Murrie of Albany and Dr. Bell of the Cook Memorial Hospital of Ft. Worth were the attending physicians, she passed out into the great unknown--If we mistake not, she was a native daughter of the Lone Star State of Texas, yes burgeoned in its soil, and having reached the age of seventy-eight years, hence came up out of the AnteBellum age, and lived through the early day history of the State of Texas--A true daughter of the South=land, a broad visioned daughter of the South, democratic in her beliefs and actions--A woman with a wonderful personality, and her life and actions radiated throughout the community where she lived. Everybody knew and loved Aunt Puss Davis--Her passing was sad indeed, a great blow to her beloved husband, W. Y. Davis and her devoted son, Merrick Davis--The funeral services were held at the Matthews Memorial Church--A large concourse of friends and relatives followed her last remains to the Albany Cemetery, where her body was laid to rest, beneath a bower of sweet smelling roses, the last gift of relatives and admiring friends--And thus, the passing of a noble woman, a loving wife and mother has gone on its long journey--Her cheery smile, noble deeds, kind words, is a heritage left to her family and friends, thing that will never be erased from their memory--The News extends sympathy to the bereaved family in their great sorrow--The vacant chair, the lock of silver hair--Mother is sleeping there.
