Vera May Herrly, 99, of Louisa, VA, formerly of Lake Havasu, AZ, passed away Monday, August 27, 2007 at Amerisist Assisted Living, Louisa, VA.
Vera was born April 22, 1908 in Currie, MN, to Ira Claude Aldrich and Isabella McBeath Aldrich.
Vera was a retired manager of an S & H Greenstamp store in Marquette, MI. She was a lifetime member of both the Daughters of Isabelle at Lady of the Lake Church and the Hospital Auxillary in Lake Havasu, AZ. Since moving to Virginia two years ago, Vera has become a member of St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Mineral, VA. She has always enjoyed making crafts, and most recently knitted and donated hats and baby booties for the neonatal unit at U.V.A. Medical Center, Charlottesville, VA.
Vera is survived by her two sons, Richard Handrahan and wife Shirley of Marquette, MI, Mike Handrahan and wife Sue of Mineral, VA, a step-son Peter Herrly and wife Lillian, of France, eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a nephew Daniel Clark and wife Darlene.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Joseph Edward Handrahan and her second husband Raymond Herrly, and her sisters, Edna and Susan.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2007 at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, 1937 Davis Hwy, Mineral, VA 23117. Father Michael Duffy will be conducting the funeral mass. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2007 at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa, VA, with a Catholic Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.
