Frank served as a Second Lieutenant & Co-Pilot on B-24D "Miss Carriage" #41-24207, 400th Bomber Squadron, 90th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He resided in Fulton County, Georgia prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 30, 1942 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Mechanic and also as Single, without dependents.
B-24D #41-24207 took off from 5-Mile Drome (Ward Drome), National Capital District, Papua New Guinea on a mission over Wewak (Wewak Point), Wewak District, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea.
After leaving the target they were attacked by a Japanese fighter that damaged and caused one of their engines to catch fire. The plane quickly made a descent and 7 parachutes were seen to leave the B-24 before it exploded and crashed near Wewak. Japanese fighters strafed the men in the parachutes while they were going down. It could not be determined by other B-24's if any of the men survived or not.
Frank "Died While A POW" of the Japanese Army at an undisclosed POW camp in New Guinea during the war.
He was awarded the Prisoner Of War Medal, Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
