Spc. Daniel J. Freeman of Cincinnati, Ohio wanted so badly to be a part of the military that he joined a year before he finished high school. The 20-year-old Blue Ash resident took advantage of an Army program to enlist early. He then traded his cap and gown for a uniform and left for basic training in June 2003, immediately after graduating from Sycamore High School. He died in when the CH-47 helicopter he was on crashed. He was 20. Weil Funeral Home.
